Provide Systems Engineering support to the Air Force Weather Systems Branch within the US Air Force (USAF) Digital Directorate (AFLCMC/HB). This position is at the Offutt Air Force Base, NE Operating Location (HBAW-OL).
Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering discipline.
Working knowledge and experience with a variety of data center hardware and software systems is required.
A minimum of 10 years work experience, with experience on Dept of Defense or Air Force acquisition programs highly desired.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems desired.
Experience with cloud computing capabilities is desired.
Demonstrated characteristics of a self-starter who is able to work independently and effectively interact with program team members and senior leadership.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and SharePoint
Ability to support occasional travel to CONUS locations.
Candidate must have an active US security clearance.
Review contractor engineering and maintenance activities for large-scale data processing center sustainment contract to ensure government requirements are met, designs can be sustained economically, systems continue to perform as required, and unsupportable equipment is replaced.
Review systems/software testing results to ascertain system readiness for operations.
Review, assess, define, and resolve technical and supportability deficiencies revealed in operational service, including analysis of system performance evaluations to identify unhealthy trends.
Support analysis, planning, and establishing requirements for technology insertion of new capabilities to correct system deficiencies and reduce lifecycle costs.
Oversee contractor execution of engineering processes to ensure compliance with best practices and contract requirements.
Assist in preparation and review of cost estimates for system sustainment; evaluate contractor sustainment proposals.
