    Provide Configuration Management (CM) support to the Air Force Weather Systems Branch, which is within the US Air Force (USAF) Battle Management Directorate at Offutt AFB, NE.





    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years work experience.
    • Experience on Dept of Defense or Air Force acquisition programs is highly desired.
    • Working knowledge of EIA-649-B (formerly MIL-HDBK-61A) “Configuration Management Guidance” is highly desired.

    • Experience with Configuration Management object schemas and/or database schemas is desired.

    • Experience with Configuration Management tools is desired.

    • Demonstrated characteristics of a self-starter who is able to work independently and effectively interact with program team members and senior leadership.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.

    • Excellent writing and presentation skills.

    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and SharePoint.

    • Candidate must obtain, and maintain, the proper personnel clearance for this position.



    • Responsible for establishing and managing a Configuration Management process and enabling engineering staff members to control/maintain technical baselines, especially software baselines, of USAF weather systems in accordance with Dept of Defense and USAF guidance.
    • Design, develop, and establish configuration management processes/documentation based on prescribed standards, program requirements, and conventional best practices.

    • Prepare records and/or documentation for, coordinate, and lead Configuration Control Boards. Conduct closeout actions and archive all CM documentation. Report CCB status to leadership.

    • Establish and maintain approved product lists for hardware and software components to allow accelerated configuration management approvals.

    • Assist in preparing and reviewing program/project documentation, e.g. Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Statement Of Objectives (SOOs), Statements-of-Work (SOWs), Performance Works Statements (PWS), System/Technical Requirements Documents (SRD/TRD), and AF Form 1067s.

    • Review and update CM plans periodically in accordance with USAF guidance.

    • Propose and implement improvements to local Configuration Management processes to increase efficiency and throughput of CM activity.

    • Perform functional and physical configuration audits (FCA/PCA). Record and archive FCA/PCA documentation.

    • Provide CM training to CM process users in the Program Office.

    • Update any CM related CM checklists for the Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT).
