PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide Configuration Management support to the Global Command & Control System-Air Force (GCCS-AF)  program office, which is within the Battle Management Directorate at Hanscom AFB, MA.



  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related work experience
  • Experience on Dept of Defense or Air Force acquisition programs is highly desired.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools.
  • Demonstrated characteristics of a self-starter who is able to work independently and effectively interact with program team members and senior leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Candidate must have an active US security clearance.


RESPONSIBILITIES: The Configuration Manager duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the effective implementation of new software and hardware releases into the operational environment using the controlling processes of configuration and change management.
  • Establish, document, implement, manage, and monitor the release management process in line with overall objectives of the HBB division, and ensure program-wide compliance.

  • Control and distribute GCCS-AF baselines (Strategic Server Enclave, GCCS-Joint, & Windows GR) to PMO and user communities.

  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and meet expectations.

  • Act as Secretariat of the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Field Readiness Reviews (FRR). These Boards are the mechanism for keeping configuration control of HW, SW and documentation.

  • Assist System Engineers (SE) with defining exact content and rollout plan for a release, align with change management processes.

  • Download and provide documents and COTS/GOTS SW to Engineering and other members (Integration, TSC, CS) of the PMO for test and operational installation.

  • Assist with planning future release windows and cycles across the portfolio of baselines.

  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.

  • Maintain CM libraries and Databases.

  • Identify all applicable stakeholders per release, notify, communicate, and manage expectations during the planning and rollout of new releases.

  • Coordinate release content and effort based on applicable baseline Version Description Documents (VDD).

  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities.

  • Ensure hardware and software being changed is traceable, secure, and that only correct, authorized and tested versions are distributed and installed.

  • Assist in identifying and managing interdependencies and timing concerns, to ensure milestone adherence, and ensure that release integrity can be measured.

  • Manage risks and communicate/escalate issues related to the release plan, scope, schedule, and implementation quality.

  • Prepare physical media bundles containing applicable release software and documentation. Duplicate and mail all new baselines after approval to operational sites.

  • Maintain CM Checklist for Audits (includes SIPS), Configuration Management Plan, CCB Charter and other CM-related documents.
