Provide Systems Engineering support to the Approach and Landing Systems Branch, which is within the US Air Force (USAF) Battle Management Directorate at Hanscom AFB, MA.



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 8 years of related experience.
  • Experience on government, Department of Defense (DoD) or Air Force acquisition programs is highly desired.

  • Experience with Air Traffic Control System Certification/Acceptance Reliability Availability & Maintainability (RAM) is highly desired

  • An understanding of air traffic control operations and state-of-the-art technology as it applies to air traffic control approach and landing systems is highly desired.

  • Experience in parts miniaturization, portability and quick deployment systems is desired.

  • Working knowledge of system safety principles and resources is highly desired.

  • Working knowledge of commercial EMI/EMC/Lightning test standards; Electrical Wiring and power distribution standards; reviewing engineering drawings; and System Safety Program Management is desired.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

  • Must have an active US security clearance




  • Apply sound systems engineering principles in the development, test, production, and sustainment of air traffic control approach and landing systems in all phases of the acquisition life cycle. Specific areas of technical support include system safety, power, EMI/EMC, software, and test
  • Support USAF acquisition process in all aspects of system acquisition, including planning, requirements traceability (specifications & drawings), test procedure development, test execution, witnessing and reporting.

  • Oversee engineering processes execution, ensuring compliance with best practices and contract requirements.

  • Develop engineering inputs for acquisition milestone documentation such as Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Program protection Plan (PPP), Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), Information Support Plan (ISP), and Programmatic Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE).

  • Review system specifications, conduct feasibility analyses, cost analyses, technical/schedule risk analyses, and end of life (EOL) impact analyses, and develop System/Technical Requirements Document.

  • Perform technical evaluations of proposals (RFP, RFI and ECPs) and provide recommendations.

  • Participate in studies and analyses to develop and verify operational and technical requirements.

  • Participate in formal technical reviews and technical interchange meetings with system developers. Provide technical evaluations of analyses and tradeoff activities, assessments of contractor technical efforts, and recommendations to the USAF Program Office.

  • Support Government efforts to ensure delivered capabilities support lifecycle cost, schedule, and performance goals of the program manager.
