Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide Deployment Engineering support to the Approach and Landing Systems Branch, which is within the US Air Force (USAF) Battle Management Directorate (AFLCMC/HB) at Tinker AFB, OK.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 8 years of related experience. Experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • Experience on Dept of Defense or Air Force acquisition programs is highly desired.
  • An understanding of air traffic control operations and state-of-the-art technology as it applies to aircraft approach and landing systems is highly desired.
  • A working knowledge of flight certification requirements is highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Must have an active US security clearance

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Deployment Engineer duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in reviews with the selected contractor and provide recommendations for resolution of any radar issues during Contractor Testing (CT) and Developmental Testing (DT), and provide support for engineering and publication changes throughout system life cycle performance.
  • Participate in Production RFP development and source selection for Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems.
  • Provide support for deployment/installation/basing systems from site-prep through system acceptance.
  • Participate in reviews with the prime contractor; evaluate plans and procedures for airfield installation and checkout (INCO); participate in regression T&E; support FAA flight checks; and provide recommendations to program management. Review test reports and related documentation. Review and assist in maintaining testing Trouble Reports. Participate in Deficiency Review board and Failure Review Boards.
  • Conduct siting surveys and site design surveys. Review program documentation including site survey reports, environmental reports, automation equipment plans and drawings, drawings and specifications, and contractor field change orders. Review and maintain generic survey reports and generic drawings and specifications. Prepare Letters of Coordination (LOC) or related INCO documentation for all sites and systems based upon the survey and design activities within the assigned programs.
  • Conduct meetings (on and off-site) with contractor and government personnel supporting the fielding phase. Coordinate INCO processes and requirements. Monitor site fielding/deployment progress. Write daily reports during the entire install/deployment phase.
  • Oversee automation system and radar equipment and installation activities. Oversee radar optimization and dry-run system acceptance test activities. Oversee Contractor Acceptance Inspection (CAI) or analogous system acceptance (SA) for the automation system.
