Overview

MAR Division of Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a 1st Mate to supervise the safe operation and maintenance of the U.S. Army Vessel (USAV) WORTHY.

LOCATION: Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Three (3) years of vessel experience.

EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.  Degree from a certified maritime vocational school or Maritime Academy.
CERTIFICATIONS AND TOOLS: U.S. Coast Guard 1600T Master license with all applicable STCW endorsements for international waters or a valid RMI level 5 license and a valid RADAR endorsement
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to deployment, and a Full Secret Security Clearance after hire.

JOB STATUS: Full-Time - Full-Time - This position is contingent upon proposal award.
TRAVEL: N/A

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Functionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Operates vessel with due regards to on time departures and safe navigation.
  • Maintains log book and all associated vessel paperwork and certifications.
  • Determines parts, supplies, and material requirements for job accomplishment.
  • Supervises a crew of up to five people: a 2nd mate and three deck hands.
  • Conducts on the job‐training of assigned personnel as required.
  • Oversees the preventive maintenance program in conjunction with the Engineer or Engineman.
  • Maintains vessel charts and maritime publications.
  • Schedules crew assignments to include watch stations and vessel sanitation.
  • Oversees the on and offloading of cargo and provisions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: This candidate must have experience with the following:

  • Three (3) years of vessel experience.
  • U.S. Coast Guard 1600T Master license with all applicable STCW endorsements for international waters or a valid RMI level 5 license.
  • A valid RADAR endorsement.
  • Ability to pass a Federal background check to obtain and hold a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to deployment, and a Full Secret Security Clearance after hire.
