Overview

MAR Division of Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Boat Captain to supervise the safe operation and maintenance on the U.S. Army Vessel (USAV) WORTHY.

LOCATION: Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Ten (10) years’ experience as a captain/mate.

EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.  Degree from a certified maritime vocational school or Maritime Academy.
CERTIFICATIONS AND TOOLS: U.S. Coast Guard 1600 Masters License, Radar license.  Excludes "Motorboat Operators" 
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).

JOB STATUS: Full-Time - This position is contingent upon proposal award.  
TRAVEL: N/A

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Functionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Supervises crew of no more than 16.
  • Aids in training and development of crew members.
  • Supervises mate watch members.
  • Oversees the USAV Worthy maintenance program to insure vessel reliability
  • Ensures the vessel maintains ABS Loadline and U.S. Army standards.
  • Remains on standby/recall status to the vessel during dockside periods, as needed.
  • Participates in the vessels off site OCCM (OnCondition Cyclic Maintenance) Drydocking on a three year basis

Accountable For:

  • Conducting onthejob training of personal, as may be required.
  • Ensures logbooks are maintained and accurately completed.
  • Enforcing safety regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: This candidate must have experience with the following:

 

  • Ten (10) years’ experience as a captain/mate.
  • U.S. Coast Guard 1600T Near Coastal Master license with applicable STCW endorsements for international waters.
  • A valid RADAR endorsement is required.
  • Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean going vessel.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Ability to pass a post offer drug screen and physical/medical clearance.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to deployment, and a Full Secret Security Clearance after hire.
