Overview

Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a full time Chief Mate supporting operations and testing of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV). This project team develops and operates cutting-edge robotic ships for the US Navy in Port Hueneme, CA.    

EXPERIENCE LEVEL:  Three years experience as a Chief Mate of sea-going vessels.

EDUCATION:  HS or GED

CERTIFICATIONS: Current USCG Chief Mate license

SECURITY CLEARANCE: US Citizen Eligible for Secret clearance.

TRAVEL: Some travel is required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Current USCG Chief Mate license 
  • Three years experience as a Chief Mate of sea-going vessels

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience piloting and docking large USVs in manned-mode.
  • Experience supervising large USVs in unmanned-mode.
  • Experience conducting test and evaluation of large USVs at sea.
  • Experience working in DoD projects.        

EXAMPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pilot large USVs in and out of port and at-sea in manned configuration. In this mode, the vessels are similar to a conventional offshore supply vessel.     
  • Remotely supervise operations of USVs in unmanned mode from a shore facility or chase vessel.
  • Supervise crew during manned at sea operations.
  • Support at-sea test and evaluation (T&E) of vessels and associated payloads.

   

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • At-sea testing may sometimes require extended-hours work weeks. Overtime and/or compensatory time is authorized for extended working hours.
