Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a full time Junior Ship Master to support Naval Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) test and evaluation in San Diego, CA. This project team develops and operates cutting-edge robotic ships for the US Navy.

This role requires an onsite daily presence and we are looking for a candidate who can work out of San Diego, CA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills)

This candidate must have experience with the following:

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be eligible for a Secret clearance.

EDUCATION: HS diploma.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TOOLS: USCG 200-ton or greater Master’s license.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Three years, (3+) of sea-going experience in a Master’s position.  

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: 

• 3+ years of sea-going experience in a Master’s position.
• Current USCG Master’s 200 ton license or higher.
• Experience piloting jet-drive boats.
• Experience maintaining and repairing complex shipboard systems
• Experience operating with milliary units on US Navy training ranges.
• Experience supporting test and evaluation (T&E) of maritime systems or vessels

RESPONSIBILITIES: Functionally, the successful candidate will:

• Operate large Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) from onboard and remotely.
• Conduct routine and corrective maintenance of complex automated control systems, main engines, diesel generators, electrical distribution systems, and auxiliary systems.
• Assist with vessel modifications, including development of Engineering Change Proposals, procurement of parts, fabrication, installation, and testing.
• Assist with planning shipyard overhauls.
• Assist with electrical, mechanical and network payload integration.
• Develop maintenance plans and procedures.
• Assist with at-sea testing of USVs and associated payload, including test plan development, test execution, and post-test analysis.
• Operate various small boats.         

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

At-sea testing may sometimes require up to 70-hour work weeks.
